Melanie Moreno

Melanie Moreno is a third-year UC Merced student pursuing a bachelors degree in Computer Science and Engineering with professional interests focusing on video game design. Moreno has experience in coding, working with computers, graphic design, and game design. By developing these skills, Moreno has goals of making an impact in video game or movie digital effects fields.

Isabella Alarcon

Isabella Alarcon is a first-year Psychology student at UC Merced. Alarcon is a member of the Engineering Service learning, Merced County Library team. She is the Documentation officer and hopes to develop a product to increase the speed process for wrapping book covers. She chose this project to think outside the box and create new technologies for society. After this project, Alarcon will apply her problem-solving and communication skills to her major. Overall, Alarcon hopes to gain experience in team-based projects and working with real-life clients.

Sandra Hernandez

Sandra Hernandez is a first-year undeclared student at UC Merced. Hernandez is the Communications Officer in the Merced County Library Engineering Service Learning project. Hernandez is pursuing a career in education and has previously been in a student-led program that hosted events to raise awareness for sexual harassment, smoking, and child trafficking. After graduation, Hernandez hopes to help low-income students in high school. Hernandez joined this project to gain engineering experience while working with a real-world client. In addition, she hopes to broaden her perspective of the STEM field and improve her communication and teamwork skills.

Claudia De La Cruz

Claudia De La Cruz is a third-year Sociology student at UC Merced and the Media Officer of the Book Jacketer Engineering Service Learning team. She is also part of El Club De EspaƱol, which encourages embracing cultures through language and community. De La Cruz hopes that with this project, she will gain experience working with real-world projects and clients. In addition, De La Cruz will develop necessary communication skills to aid her Sociology career.

Amrita Mohandas

Amrita Mohandas is a third-year Computer Science and Engineering major. Mohandas is the project manager for the Merced County Library Engineering Service Learning team. Mohandas joined the team because it provides a meaningful opportunity to improve the Merced County community. Through this project, Mohandas wants to develop her leadership skills and enhance her cross-functional collaboration experience with students from other disciplines. In the future, Mohandas hopes to complete an internship in Computer Science and pursue higher levels of education.

Carley Schonert

Carley Schonert is a first-year Anthropology student who became interested in archaeology at a young age. Schonert has participated in the Japanese National Honors Society by sharing information about Japan and Japanese holidays through presentations or events. Schonert plans on contributing to this engineering project by offering her unique perspective as an anthropology student. Schonert currently serves as the Documentation Officer for the Merced County Library Book Jacketer project. Schonert intends to support her team by instilling good organizational practices for the project documentation as a documentation officer. Schoenert plans to apply these organizational skills to aid her as she pursues her career as an archaeologist.

Jade Alvarado

Jade Alvarado is a second-year Anthropology student looking to become, a medical forensic specialist. Alvarado is the Media Officer member of the Merced County Library Engineering Service-Learning team. Alvarado hopes, to gain experience in working hands on a hands-on project with real-world clients. In addition, Alvarado aspires to develop her communication and leadership skills within her project to improve academically and succeed as a future professional.
