Book Jacketer Jig

The Merced County Library attracts inquisitive members of the Merced community that look to continuously acquire knowledge. Each book in the library system is jacketed with a plastic cover to protect the book. Thousands of books are jacketed and cataloged each year, with each book taking up to 5 minutes to complete the process. Engineering Service-Learning students are designing a tool to improve the efficiency of this process and reduce the time taken to applythe plastic jacket to each book. This project is scheduled to begin in August 2021 with a prospective delivery date of May 2022.
