Bobcat Radio Biographies for Fall 2015

Fernando Gonzalez
Project Manager

Fernando Gonzalez is a fourth year Anthropology Student. Fernando is the Project Manager of the Engineering Service Learning Team “Bobcat Radio.” He chose to be apart of this project because he felt it gave him an opportunity to bridge the cultural gaps between the greater Merced community and the student body. Fernando has received commendations during his time in the Army, has been a part of the Las Cuevas and Young People of Color in Merced research projects and has worked as afield technician for Albion Environmental. Fernando collects ethnic folk records and writes short fiction in his spare time.

Florentino Martinez
Assistant Project Manager

Florentino is a third year Mechanical Engineering student. Florentino is the assistant projectmanager of the Engineering Service Learning team Bobcat Radio. He chose it because it gave him the opportunity to develop the UC Merced Community, through the creation of a medium that will bridge the communities of the city of Merced and the university. He also enjoys being outdoors and along with spending time with his family. Florentino plans to retain his leadership skills for a profession in the automotive industry. Eventually, Florentino wants to return to graduate school to further his knowledge in Engineering.

 

Tiffany Tang
Communications Officer

Tiffany Tang is a second year Biomedical Engineering student. Tiffany is the communications officer of the Engineering Service Learning team Bobcat Radio. Shechose to be a part of Bobcat Radio because it gave her an opportunity to be a part of the buildup for Bobcat Radio. Academically, Tiffany is interested in creating different projects and has been apart of Engineering Service Learning for three semesters. She also loves the basketball team, the Golden State Warriors.

Presley Ramirez
Webmaster

Presley Ramirez is a fourth year Earth System Science student. Presley is the Webmaster of the Engineering Service Learning team Bobcat Radio. He chose it because he was in a journalism class his senior year of High School in which he was the spokesman for the school radio station twice a week.Interesting enough, he also directed a music video with music that he produces as well as edited a music video for his theater class. Presley is in the UC Merced Choral and is President of UC Merced’s Wrestling Team. Lastly, Presley hopes to work towards a sustainable future by education through music and videos.

Andy Sithong
Intellectual Property Officer

Andy Sithong is a sixth year Mechanical Engineering Student. Andy is the intellectual Property Officer of the Engineering Service Learning team Bobcat Radio. He chose it because of his inquiry of music,outreach to the public, and ability to connect everyone together through a common source.Academically, Andy is interested in aviation and currently assigned to a Capstone project team in the preservation of a WW II aircraft. He enjoys spending his time playing tennis, dancing, and spending time with friends and family. He is a very passionate person about anything he wants to pursue and someone who is able to get the job done. 

Vincent Gallardo
Procurement and Finance Officer

Vincent Gallardo is a fourth year Bioengineering Student. Vincent is the Procurement and Finance Officer of the Engineering Service team “Bobcat Radio.”He chose it because he has a love for music and was interested in what Bobcat Radio entails. Academically, Vincent is interested in Biomaterials and Orthopaedic Bioengineering because he wants to help those who are injured or impaired so that they can live a regular life. He is the intramural chairman of the professional engineering fraternity, Theta Tau. Besides doing school work, he enjoys playing pickup basketball, collecting street wear apparel, and listening to music.

Amelia Thaoxaochay
Team Member

Amelia Thaoxaochay is a fourth year Psychology student. Amelia is a team member of the Bobcat RadioEngineering Service Learning project. She chose this team because she is interested in being a part of building the Bobcat Radio and learning more about the engineering end of service learning.Academically, Amelia is interested in managing her own business and becoming a physical therapy. She loves to play guitar and soccer. She spends much of her time working on her family’s farm and at local farmer’s markets.

William Miller
Team Member

William Miller is a senior Mechanical Engineering student. William is a team member of the Bobcat Radio Engineering Service Learning project. He chose this team in direct response to his major, so that he may strengthen his understanding of concepts and projects within his field of study. Academically William is pursuing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering with his sights ultimately on becoming a grad student in Aerospace engineering. He enjoys spending his extra time being involved in the community, and inside the gym. William loves tutoring others in math and other hard science disciplines.

 

Asdruval Ramirez
Team Member

Asdruval Ramirez is a fifth year Mechanical Engineering student. Asdruval is a team member ofthe Bobcat Radio Engineering Service Learning project. He chose this team to gain further knowledge of radio operations as well as an opportunity to give back to the UC Merced community. He enjoys jazz music and being able to tinker with electronics in his spare time. His enthusiasm and family are what keep him positive and striving to further his education going forward.

 

Kian Bradley
Team Member

Kian Bradley is a fourth year Computer Science and Engineering student. He works as a web developer with CITRIS (Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society),and has gained skill in managing linux servers and maintaining several websites. His skills also include professional writing and working with others in a team. In his free time Kian enjoys reading books, breaking computers and swearing at PHP code. He hopes that his skills and experience can contribute to the creation of UC Merced’s future radio station.
