Community Development Analytics Biographies for Fall 2015

 

 

Gustavo Flores,

Assistant Project Manager

Gustavo Flores is a third year Mechanical Engineering student at UC Merced. Gustavo is the assistant project manager of the Engineering Service Learning team Community Development Analytics. He chose the team because he wants to make a difference to the city that is helping provide his source of education. Aside from his eagerness to help the community that he lives in, he loves the opportunity to gain new experiences and develop leadership skills. As a dedicated student he supplements his studying with commonsense, instinct and luck in a test, so far he has yet to fail.

DeVaughn Ogles,

Communication Officer

DeVaughn Ogles is a third year Mechanical Engineering student. He is an active member of UC Merced’s Cheer Team and Campus Activities Board. DeVaughn is the Communication Officer of the Engineering Service Learning team Community Development Analytics. He wanted to be a part of it because the project fills his desire to help and improve his community. Academically, DeVaughn is interested in electrical engineering and MATLAB. He enjoys spending time with his family on occasional weekends. Outside of academics, DeVaughn enjoys weightlifting and a nice game of League of Legends.

Christian Vernikoff, Webmaster

Christian Vernikoff is a first year Computer Science student at UC Merced. Christian is the Webmaster of the Engineering Service Learning team Community Development Analytics. He chose this team because it would allow him to achieve more experience in his major in addition to assisting the Merced community. Academically Christian enjoys all areas of math, but specifically calculus. He loves playing tennis and played on the varsity team in his high school in the Bay-Area. Outside of academics, Christian enjoys hiking, fishing and playing Civilization.

Jorge De Haro,

Intellectual Property Officer

Jorge De Haro is a second year Mechanical Engineering student. Jorge is the Intellectual Property Officer of the Engineering Service Learning team Community Development Analytics. He chose this team because he wants to contribute to the growth and improvement of the community of Merced. In addition, he wants to improve his leadership, teamwork, and communication skills through involvement in the team and in other engineering clubs. Academically, Jorge is interested in mathematics and science, especially calculus and physics. Outside of school, Jorge enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, and playing soccer.

Eric Peña, Inventory & Procurement Officer

Eric Peña is a first year mechanical engineer student at the University of California, Merced. Eric is the Procurement & Financial Officer of the Engineering Service Learning team Community Development Analytics. He choose this team because he felt that it would directly benefit the county of Merced’s quest for economic growth. Academically, Eric is interested in joining engineering-related to clubs to better himself in his field of academics. Outside of school, Eric loves to read war novels and to hang out with his family and friends.
