Healthy Host is an Android Application being developed by students from the University of California, Merced's Project Protect Engineering Service Learning team. In collaboration with Healthy House and Faculty Advisor Dr. Miriam Barlow of UC Merced, students hope to bridge the gap between healthcare professionals and patients by increasing community literacy on bacterial and viral illnesses.
The Project Protect Engineering Service Learning team has set a goal of completing Healthy Host by the end of the Fall 2017 semester. By design, the app is being developed to provide easy to understand medical information which is translated into four different languages, English, Spanish, Hmong, and Punjabi. The information on the application will be available in both text format and spoken word, which is being recorded this semester to provide persons with vision impairment access to the information.
