Earth Layers

This project explains the concept of layers using the earth as our model. Earth is composed of many layers that each has unique characteristics. These characteristics can be categorized by their composition, density, temperature, and other qualities. The students will explore each layer and learn how these characteristics affect them. The student’s main activity will be building a model that is similar to the Earth’s crust. To access the lesson plans for this activity click here.

Earth Layers
and
Rock Cycles

Students will learn about different layers of the earth and become geologists by understanding how rocks are formed. Students are introduced to the different earth layers, starting from the inner core expanding to the earth’s crust. The second phase of this project is to explore how rocks are formed. Students will classify physical rocks from ingenious, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. The goal for students is to develop an understanding of the earth’s composition. To compliment this fun-filled day of learning Team Get S.E.T has created a presentation and two worksheets for students to fill out.

Fossil Simulation

Students will go over the concept of fossilization through our Fossil Simulation activity. This project will be going over how fossils are created and how these fossils tell them about earth’s history. The worksheet for this project is located here.
