Engineering Service Learning courses (ENGR 097/197) offer exciting real-world experiences and opportunities for professional growth.
In multidisciplinary design teams, UC Merced students work on compelling projects that really matter for their nonprofit community partners. Students develop real-world experience in teamwork and communication skills, gain valuable experience in project planning and leadership, and gain insights to the ethical, economic and legal issues surrounding design challenges.
Students who wish to apply to join an Engineering Service Learning team should complete the student application. Applications are reviewed at the beginning of each enrollment period, and students are notified by the fourth week of the enrollment period. Students apply to join each team and are accepted based on their backgrounds and the diversity they would lend to a team.
The Engineering Service Learning courses (ENGR 097/197) fulfill upper division humanities graduation requirements for all UC Merced majors.
