Captivated Thinking

Tuolumne County Economic Development Authority

Rural counties in California are disproportionately positioned to attract high skilled industries found in other counties in the state.  In partnership with inmates at the Sierra Conservation Center in Jamestown, California, the Captivated Thinking Engineering Service Learning team is designing a software program to create an economic snapshot for rural counties within California.  This software program provides charts, and statistics that indicate the economic health, and potential for growth within a county. The snapshot tool reduces the current time to generate these reports by 90% and is expected to save the Tuolumne County over $500,000 over the next 10 years and will be shared with additional rural counties across California.

Creating an overview of the Tuolumne county economy

The Captivated Thinking team has teamed up with our partners, inmates in the Sierra Conservation Center to distribute the preliminary tasks of the project. The collective team is in the process of developing specifications that will outline what a successful snapshot tool will output.
